Oil seals or rotary shaft seals are spring-loaded (spring activated) seals with one or two lips used to prevent leakage of fluids or gases along a rotating shaft. The oil seal is installed in or on the stationary machine component and has a flexible spring-loaded sealing lip that come in contact to the rotating shaft. They are typically made of elastic materials such as rubber and are installed in a sealing groove (press-fit) to seal towards the rotating shaft. Sealwell’s oil seals are available in different materials, including options with an extra dust lips, rubber coating, or metal casing, depending on the application requirements. There are also types that are more suitable for higher pressures, such as the Sealwell type RT N11.
