Backup rings.

Backuprings are installed together with O-rings to prevent gap extrusion in high-pressure applications. At high pressures and large sealing gaps, there is a risk that the O-ring will be extruded through out the gap. If this process is repeated and the pressure increases further, the O-ring is at risk of being damaged and losing its sealing function. Due to the reduction of the sealing gap, the backup ring ensure that the O-ring function optimally without being damaged. We offer various types of backup rings in various compounds and shapes, such as moulded backuprings in NBR (concave shape), solid, split, and spiral-cut PTFE backup rings, and other materials for both standard and special applications.

Some of the most common compounds we can provide are NBR (Buna-N / Nitrile) and PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene).
