Axial seals, also referred to as gamma ring / gamma seal are used in rotating applications to seal against dirt, grease, moisture and other contaminants. It is an axial seal with axial contact, which is mounted with a press fit. The seal consists of a sealing lip enclosed in a metal cover. The cover serves as holder, support and protection for the seal. Common materials are NBR and FKM. Common applications are, for example, in mobile hydraulics, electric motors etc.
